Roller Shade Spacing Requirements

Back to Search Results

Different types of window treatments require specific depths in order to properly operate. Depending on the treatments used, spacing requirements vary. When using inside mount roller shades, confirm the depth of window sill equals or is greater than Roller Shade Bracket depth. The space needed for roller shades is dependent upon the depth of the bracket. Check out the Roller Shade Cut Sheet for bracket depth specifications.

Depending on your overall window treatment design, you’ll need to make sure the property has enough space to install the shade. See four different scenarios below:

1. Single Roller Shade | Inside Mount

Real Life Example: Motel 6

2. Dual Roller Shade | Inside Mount

Real Life Examples: Hyatt Place

3. Single Outside Mount & Single Inside Mount (Split Mount)

Real Life Examples: Element by Marriott | Ontario, CA

4. Dual Outside Mount

Real Life Example: Renaissance | Des Moines, IA
