Motorized Drapery: Will I See The Motor?

Managing electrical outlets and motor locations are the last thing you want to worry about when designing guestroom window treatments… This is a frequently asked question, so we hope the following three points help simplify the process.

1. Be sure to hide the motor behind the stack of the drapery

2. You’ll want to make sure the wire powering the motor is also hidden behind the treatment

3. Make sure the outlet location is obscured by the top cornice/millwork or drapery treatment

If electrical locations are limited, you can have the motor on either side of the drapery stack, but you’ll want to ensure coverage by a pocket or millwork cornice.

Will Any Top Treatment Work To Hide The Motor?

Drapery motor sizes are usually about 12” tall. Depending on the style of top treatment used, it will likely cover the whole motor. Check out our Cornice Style, Valance Style. Our Madera Cornice collection is actually customizable. Depending on site design and conditions, our custom made cornices and valances will cover the motor from a 90 degree view!
