Manufacture and Install
Over the years, modular construction has become more appealing for brands and developers due to its many advantages— faster construction allowing hotels to timely meet room demands and lower onsite construction labor cost. Modular construction is different to regular construction in many different ways, and so is the way we install and manufacture window treatments for it. Here are a few variations to consider for both measure and install, before your next modular project:
Manufacturing Off of General Contractor Provided Measures
Typically, modular buildings are dimensionally more accurate than site-built construction, as the units have to fit together with tight tolerances. Therefore, while we always recommend having an experienced Threadwell installer measure each window, in this type of construction, we are a little more comfortable working from General Contractor-provided measures. These could be floor plans, or measures obtained once the units are made in the POD facility.
Manufacturing and Installing Off of Our Measures
We would measure once property is assembled, and install once product is ready. In this case, it’s no different than a regular hotel. Please reference our Measure Conditions Resource Card for details on things that need to be in place, before we can measure.
Modular Builder to Install as They Build The Units
Most modular builders don’t want to install the FF&E until the modular unit is at the job site, and securely stored in place, but this really is dictated by the builder. We recommend consulting with your builder and asking for specifics as to how they would prefer to handle the installation.
